NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops says the decision to kick starting quarterback Rhett Bomar and offensive lineman JD Quinn off the team was ``cut and dried.''
Stoops says the two players knew they were breaking NCAA rules by taking money for work they did not perform and the coach says what he had to do was clear _ dismiss both from the team and he says both are gone for good.
And Stoops says the auto dealership where they were working knew the rules were being violated but the coach also emphasizes that the dealership has different ownership.
Stoops says fifth-year senior Paul Thompson is moving back from receiver and is now the starting quarterback.
Thompson was the backup to Jason White in 2003 and redshirted in '04. He earned the starting job last year but was moved to receiver after one game when Bomar was named the starter.
Stoops says he ``absolutely'' still believes OU is in the running for a Big 12 championship.
