State prison officials want more money from the state Legislature to deal with major cost increases.

They say prisons need nearly $41.5-million more to cover an anticipated $88-million in cost increases this year. It includes money for a 5-percent worker pay raise which lawmakers mandated, but didn't fund.

The state Department of Corrections was appropriated more than $456-million for this fiscal year.
