OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Ernest Istook wins the Republican primary for governor and will face Democratic incumbent Brad Henry in the fall general election.
Istook is leaving a safe seat in the US House to run for governor.
He captured nearly 55 percent of the vote in defeating three opponents for the Republican nomination.
Henry, facing only token opposition, picked up 86 percent of the vote.
In the Republican 5th Congressional District race to replace Istook, Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin had 35 percent of the vote and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett had 24 percent to earn spots in a runoff.
