TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Turning 65 years old on August 1 may finally catch up with jockey Roy Brooks.
The Blanchard native is one of the United States' oldest active jockeys and has spent most of his career racing in Oklahoma, including Fair Meadows in Tulsa.
Brooks began his career as a jockey in Miami, Oklahoma, in 1966, and still races today.
Brooks says racing comes just as easy as it always has and doesn't believe there's been a decline in his skills.
Brooks says he's flirted with the idea of retirment and admits that this year could be his last. When he retires, he says he plans to head to his 700-acre ranch in Blanchard.
