ADA, Okla. (AP) -- The new president of East Central University in Ada is settling into his job.

Richard Rafes' first day on the ECU campus was Monday. He had previously served as the senior vice president for administration at the University of North Texas.

Rafes is succeeding Bill Cole, who had been ECU's president for 17 years before his retirement took effect last month.

ECU is a regional university with about 4,400 students.
