An Oklahoma family gets to spend the holiday with a soldier home from war. The News on 6 was there Monday afternoon as he stepped off the plane.
News on 6 reporter Joshua Brakhage talked to a couple who is saving their biggest plans for after the 4th. Sergeant Jon Eppler has been in Iraq since Thanksgiving. He made it back Monday, just in time for his wedding.
Jon plans to marry Jeni Duffee this coming weekend. Jon used to be Jeni's sword-fighting instructor. He's only home for two weeks before he's back to Iraq, so the couple plans to make the most of the time he's here.
Jeni Duffee: “and it turned from something real small with a few friends and family, and it's just exploded, in my opinion, into epic proportions. It's been insane because I've had to plan this thing nearly by myself."
Sgt. Jon Eppler: "I've got to do what I've got to do, but it'll definitely make it harder to leave. But we're over the halfway mark on our tour, so it's not too bad."
