Felon gets life in prison after getting 13-year-old pregnant

WACO, Texas (AP) _ A seven-time convicted felon was sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing his girlfriend's 13-year-old daughter, getting her pregnant and taking lewd photographs of her.

Jurors deliberated for about 90 minutes yesterday before deciding punishment for Donnie Earl Witt, a 48-year-old native of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was convicted of sexual assault of a child and eleven counts of possession of child pornography.

Witt met the girl's mother, Rebecca Linton, while she was a secretary at an Oklahoma prison where he was serving time.

Linton and the girl testified that Witt came to live with them after his parole in September 2003 and that he quickly began a romantic relationship with the girl.

Linton is serving a seven-year federal prison term for aiding and abetting the production of child pornography.

Assistant District Attorney Beth Toben says the girl was 14 when she discovered she was pregnant with twins. The girl, now 16, put her babies up for adoption, was president of her sophomore class and is living with relatives in Oklahoma.
