Bob Sullivan Ad Called "Doubly Dishonest" By Ernest Istook

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- US Representative Ernest Istook terms as "doubly dishonest" television commercials in which a fellow Republican gubernatorial foe accuses him of developing, quote, "a taste for pork."

Tulsa businessman Bob Sullivan began running the ads Friday after distributing pink pig piÃ±atas and scripts of the ads, which label Istook as "a liberal big spender."

Istook said Tuesday that Sullivan has broken a written pledge to run a clean campaign and that Sullivan is telling falsehoods and distorting Istook's votes.

Istook, Sullivan and state Senator James Williamson of Tulsa are seeking the GOP nomination to oppose Democratic Governor Brad Henry, who is running for a second four-year term.

Comedic actor Gailard Sartain of Tulsa is shown in the Sullivan ad behind a mask depicting Istook with a new face.

Sartain emerges from the mask and complains that Istook went to Washington as a conservative but "developed a taste for pork."

The actor later puts on a mask of Sullivan and declares that "Bob Sullivan hates pork," while grunting like a pig.
