OKMULGEE, Okla. (AP) The formal acceptance of Eddie Sutton's resignation as Oklahoma State's basketball coach is on the agenda for today's meeting of the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents in Okmulgee.
The 70-year-old Sutton announced his resignation on May 19th, ending a 36-year career in which he won 798 games, made three trips to the Final Four and became the first coach to take four schools to the NCAA tournament.
He said the day he announced his retirement that he had considered returning to OSU after a February 10th car accident that led to no contest pleas to drunken driving and other charges, but decided against doing so.
His son Sean Sutton has been named as his replacement. However, there is no item on today's agenda regarding a contract for Sean Sutton.
Eddie Sutton's resignation will become official June 30th.
