Tulsans have something new to brag about, depending on who you ask. It's a distinction that some people are working up a sweat about.

News on 6 reporter Omar Villafranca explains.

It doesn't matter if meteorologists or millionaire models say it, we know it's hot in Tulsa. Add the outdoor heat and humidity together and Tulsa turns into the sweatiest city in Oklahoma.

Bill Pryde lives in Las Vegas, but he's visiting as part of the production crew for the Lion King. Bill and others working out indoors at a Tulsa gym say it's the humidity that makes Tulsa feel like a sauna. "It's dirty and dusty in theaters, so the dust and grime sticks to you. It's like that, but if you're outside, it's fine."

Omar asked a Tulsa resident, Erin Hoefer, do you sweat more inside or outside? “Depends on the weather, but probably sweat more inside. It's the sticky hair. The sticky hair that sticks to the back of your neck."

Nationally, Tulsa comes in as the 24th sweatiest city, which is better than New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Oklahoma City only came in 31st on the list. Must be a cold front going through there.

Maybe one day we'll aspire to perspire like the number one sweatiest city, Phoenix.

Old Spice deodorant came up with the rankings. And to keep cool, doctors say you should wear light, breathable clothing, and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated in the heat.
