OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Suburban cities around Oklahoma City and Tulsa are the fastest growing cities in the state.
Population estimates released Wednesday by the US Census Bureau show the Tulsa suburbs of Bixby, Jenks and Owasso are the state's three fastest growing cities.
The Oklahoma City suburbs of Mustang and Moore are fourth and fifth in population growth.
The Census Bureau says Bixby's population has grown more than 39 percent since 2000 to 18,000 in population.
The population of Jenks increased by more than 37 percent and the population in Owasso is up by more than 28 percent.
In Mustang the population is up by nearly 21 percent and Moore grew by almost 16 percent.
In Oklahoma City the population rose by nearly five percent to a total of more than 531,000. Tulsa's population decreased by an estimated 2.7 percent to just under 382,500.
Norman's population rose by more than five percent to just over 101,000 while Lawton lost about 2.66 percent of its population and has just more than 90,000 residents.
