OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Will a depiction of the oil industry, agriculture or American Indian heritage appear on the back of the state quarter?
Those three are among the final ten suggestions being considered by a gubernatorial task force, which whittled the choices from a list of 30.
The group will write narratives on the final coin designs and give them to Governor Brad Henry by July 31st. The governor has until September 30th to submit three to five suggestions to the US Treasury Department.
Task force member Richard Chadwick says the final ten suggestions include a drilling rig or pump jack for the oil industry and wheat or corn for agriculture.
Chadwick says other suggestions include something to do with American Indians, the Pioneer Woman statue in Ponca City and an outline of the state's map.
The task force received written ideas submitted by nearly 1,000 people.
The state's quarter is to be issued in January 2008.
