ADA, Okla. (AP) Jurors gasped as graphic crime scene photos were shown in the trial of a man accused of raping and strangling an Ada woman nearly 24 years ago.

Prosecutors yesterday showed the pictures of Deborah Sue Carter and the apartment where she was found dead as part of their case against Glen Dale Gore.

One picture showed Carter as she was found, unclothed and face down on the floor.

The photo that showed her on her back with a bloody washcloth stuffed in her mouth and the word ``Die'' painted on her stomach with nail polish drew an audible reaction from the panel.

The photos followed tearful testimony from Carter's friend. Donna Johnson found her when she went by Carter's garage apartment on December 8th, 1982, to invite her to lunch.

Johnson said she left the apartment and called Carter's mother, who then called Carter's father to check on their daughter.

She says Carter's father held his daughter, told her loved her and that he was sorry he couldn't protect her.
