McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- The bombs used to killed terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi were built at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.
Plant spokesman Mark Hughes confirms the two 500-pound bombs were made at the southeast Oklahoma depot. He says the McAlester plant is the only facility making the 500-pound bombs for the military.
Al-Zarqawi was killed when the two bombs were dropped on a safe house where he was staying about 30 miles outside Baghdad.
US Air Force Lieutenant General Gary North says two F-16s dropped a laser-guided GBU-12 and a satellite-guided GBU-38 bomb on the house.
