The Red Cross has opened a shelter for Tulsa families whose electricity is out and who need to escape the heat or can’t access their homes because of downed power lines and trees.
The shelter is located at Crosstown Church of Christ at 3400 East Admiral Place.
There will be food and showers available.
Red Cross says 50 cots have been set up, although it is not known how many people will utilize the shelter.
Families who need to speak to a Red Cross caseworker about damage to their homes should call 831-1109.
The city of Tulsa has also set up a hot line to answer questions about food safety, oxygen and other health issues related to the storm. The hotline number is 596-7822.
