Bixby Police say summer is primetime for teenagers to drink alcohol. So, to crack down, they went undercover for a sting. Two 18-year-old girls were sent into 17 different places to see if they could buy beer or liquor.
Three places sold to them, the rest did not. One place sold beer, which is a misdemeanor, the clerk got a ticket. Two restaurants sold liquor, which meant the server was taken to jail on a felony.
Bixby Police officer Erik Smoot: "Here recently, in the last year, restaurants have been the most non-compliant. We'll still do the stores, we don't give them a break, but, restaurants either don't check ID and if they do, they don't care who they sell it to."
Bixby Police say cracking down on underage drinking is extremely important. 21-percent of all young people killed in car wrecks in Oklahoma are intoxicated.
