MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (AP) _ A shooting review board rules a Midwest City police officer properly followed the department's excessive force policy when he shot an alleged bank robber.
Officer Greg Wipfli has been on paid administrative leave since the May 17th shooting of 27-year-old Aaron Kennedy.
Kennedy was shot once in the leg and three times in the chest during a gunfight with Wipfli at the Union Service Credit Center in Midwest City. He remains in critical condition at an Oklahoma City hospital.
Wipfli was off duty and in uniform while working security at the bank, but Police Chief Brandon Clabes says Wipfli still was acting within the scope of his duties as a police officer.
Oklahoma County District Attorney Wes Lane hasn't determined yet whether the shooting was justified.
