The second candidate vying to be Tulsa Public Schools next superintendent was back in town Tuesday.

Nashua, New Hampshire's superintendent Dr. Julia Earl toured the district for the second time Tuesday. She told News on 6 education reporter Ashli Sims, she has long-term ambitions in Tulsa.

Dr. Julia Earl is a first-year superintendent in Nashua, New Hampshire. But she said Tuesday, if she got the job in Tulsa, she would stay until she retired.

Earl has spent much of her career in Texas, teaching in Huntsville, Texas for 20 years and getting her PhD from Texas A&M University.

Earl is currently the superintendent in Nashua, New Hampshire, a district a third of the size of Tulsa Public Schools. But Earl says she worked in a district with as many as 37,000 students.

She told a news conference Tuesday she would be visible in the community and she would reach out to folks who feel like their voices have not been heard. If she got the job, Earl says she would stay in Tulsa long term. "I would hope to be here until my career ends. And I would hope that would be for quite some time. I would certainly want to stay here until we accomplish the goals of the district and itâ€™s taken to the next level of excellence."

Dr. Michael Zolkoski is the other finalist for Tulsa Public Schools' top job. He visited the district again last Friday.

Current superintendent Dr. David Sawyer retires at the end of June.
