GROVE, Okla. (AP) -- The Grove city manager says he won't say why he fired the city's police chief, then later rehired him the same day and placed him on administrative leave with pay.

Grove City Manager Bill Galletly says he can't discuss why he fired Police Chief Mark Wall last Friday morning, and rehired him later that evening.

Wall had accepted a position that Friday as an investigator with the Ottawa County district attorney's office shortly after he was fired from the police department.

Later on that day, Galletly issued a press release saying he had rehired Wall and that Wall had been placed on administrative leave with pay and benefits.

Police Chief Wall says he's seeking legal counsel concerning the incident from an attorney in Jay, Oklahoma, named Chris Ramsey.
