TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Air traffic controllers passed out fliers in Tulsa saying a proposed contract threatens safety.

They handed out the fliers to passengers gathering luggage at Tulsa International Airport Monday morning.

Controllers hope public pressure will get the FAA back to the negotiations table before a new contract takes effect June 5th.

Controllers say the contract cuts pay and will push veteran workers into early retirement, worsening air traffic problems nationwide.

13 percent of Tulsa International's 31 air controllers are eligible for retirement.
