OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Officials say the number of people killed on Oklahoma roadways during the month of April increased by 13 during the same month last year.

The Department of Public Safety says 56 people were killed in traffic accidents in April this year, up from 43 during April 2005.

Four of last month's fatality victims were motorcyclists, one was driving an all-terrain vehicle and two were pedestrians. The remaining 49 were killed in vehicle crashes, six of which were determined to be alcohol-related.

There were only five days in April that went without a traffic fatality.
