FORT GIBSON, Okla. (AP) -- Cherokee County prosecutors are dropping alcohol and weapons charges against an Oklahoma Lake Patrol trooper.

Trooper Dennis Dance was accused of being drunk while patrolling Lake Fort Gibson in August 2003. He was charged with operating a boat while drunk and for carrying his weapon at the time.

Prosecutors said Dancer's blood alcohol level was point-14, above the legal limit at the time of point-10.

Prosecutors could not be reached for comment about why they decided to drop the charges.

Dancer has been on paid administrative leave since he was charged.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says it will conduct its own internal investigation to see if he violated any department policies.
