A pair of recent fire tragedies sparks a positive project from an Okmulgee County Boy Scout.

When two people died in a fire in Liberty last month, Kayne Johnson wanted to do something to prevent the same thing from happening again.

He's collected money and 1,000 smoke detectors, enough to give at least two detectors to every Liberty resident who is currently without one.

The smoke detectors will be distributed at a chili dinner this Saturday from 4 until 7 PM at Liberty School. It's a benefit to raise money for a fire victim's family.

You can also still donate at any Bank of Oklahoma location or at the Glenpool City Hall, Glenpool Fire station, the Liberty school or in Tulsa at the Boy Scout Center at 42nd and Garnett and ARS Medical on East 51st Street.
