Woody Guthrie leads class of seven into Oklahoma Hall of Fame

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The late folk singer Woody Guthrie is one of seven people who will be inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame this year.

The hall is run by the Oklahoma Heritage Association and the induction ceremony will be November 16th in Tulsa.

Guthrie was born in Okemah and became one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century before his death in 1967. He already has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Others to be inducted into the Oklahoma Hall include Oklahoma City University President Tom McDaniel; Southeastern Oklahoma State University President Glen Johnson Jr.; Oklahoma City attorney, author and historian Bob Burke; retired Tulsa oil executive King Kirchner; Tulsa neurologist J. Philip Kistler; and Tulsa philanthropist and Jewish leader Lynn Schusterman.
