Traffic problems caused by train crossings may become a thing of the past in Claremore. Two major railroad routes run through Claremore.

Everyday the passing trains put the brakes on an estimated 53,000 motorists. Now the city is working on a solution.

One idea is to elevate sections of the rail line. The cost is $30-million. Another is a single-site overpass with an $8-million price tag.

The city has about $4.5-million available to start working on the issue. It plans to ask the state for more funding.
