A man is stable condition after he was shot by a Tulsa Police officer over the weekend.

It happened early Saturday at the Landing Apartments near 11th and Mingo. Police say several people were in a car when an officer saw one of them drinking a beer.

As the officer got out of his patrol car, a man identified as 44-year-old Gary Taylor, ran from the vehicle and reached into his waistband. Authorities say as the officer went around the corner of a building, the man pointed a gun at him.

The officer fired several shots. Taylor was hit once.

An investigation into the shooting is underway.
