STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State basketball coach Eddie Sutton pleaded no contest Friday to drunken driving charges for a February traffic accident in Stillwater.
Prosecutors are recommending a 1-year deferred sentence and a $500 fine plus court costs. Sutton has already completed an alcohol treatment program that's also part of the plea deal.
He'll also be required to attend a victim impact panel and may be ordered to pay restitution.
Sutton was charged with misdemeanor aggravated drunken driving, speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road after his SUV hit another SUV, then hit a tree.
Court records show the coach's blood alcohol concentration was .22 _ nearly three times the legal limit.
He remains as head coach and his son, Sean, is serving as interim coach.
Sutton is fifth in career NCAA Division One wins list with 798 and has said a return to coaching remains a possibility.
