A portion of the city of Tulsa’s third penny would bring some silence to downtown.

The package includes money to install railroad gates that completely block the road when a train approaches. With traffic blocked - the trains would not have to blow their horns.

Developers have told the city the noise was discouraging people from living downtown. T

he gates, at five intersections along 1st Street, will cost $750,000.
