Wagoner Police Seek Clues In Fatal Shooting

The community of Wagoner is reeling with shock and grief after a young mother was murdered in her own home and the woman's 6-year-old daughter is the one who found her.

News on 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright says 26 year old Stacey Shoemaker grew up in Wagoner, her high school sweetheart became her husband and they had a little girl. Stacey worked at the middle school as a special ed teacher's aide, she was bubbly and happy and loved her students as much as they loved her.

Wagoner Middle School principal Darrell Morgan: "She took a lot of interest in her job. In fact, I got through evaluating her on Friday. I wrote some nice things in it and the teacher said she appreciated it. She deserved it, she was a good hand, done a good job."

Stacey's husband left their home Sunday morning at 5:30 AM to go to work and their daughter was with grandparents. Wagoner Police say someone broke in through the back door, shot Stacey to death on the bed, then stole a shotgun, cash, jewelry, credit cards and a checkbook.

When the grandparents brought the daughter home around 11:30 AM, they found Stacey, dead.

Family friend Mick Bowman: "It's very shocking. She's so sweet and innocent. I can't believe it. Why would something like this happen and it's so close to home, it makes you start thinking of your own kids and family members, it's unbelievable."

Wagoner Police and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents are working the case and need the public's help. If anyone hears something about this case or knows someone who just came into money or jewelry, they need to call, so this killer can be caught and is no longer roaming the streets.

There is a $5,000 reward for the person who helps Wagoner Police make an arrest and conviction in this case. The number to call with tips is the OSBI at 800-522-8017.
