Ceremony held for late state narcotics director

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Late Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics director Lonnie Wright was remembered as leaving a legacy across the nation during a brief ceremony at the state Capitol Monday morning.

Wright died of a heart attack last Thursday. His body lay in state at the Capitol before funeral services in Edmond.

Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris praised Wright for his work in making Oklahoma the first state to pass an anti-methamphetamine law. The law limits the sale of cold medicines that contain a key ingredient in meth and is being copied by several other states.

Governor Brad Henry and first lady Kim Henry spent several minutes with family members that includes Wright's widow, Rita, and their daughter Rachel.

His funeral was held later at St. Monica Catholic Church in Edmond with burial following at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in northeast Oklahoma County.
