SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) -- A former Shawnee resident was taken into custody after he purchased large amounts of diesel fuel at a local convenience store.
Police say Steven Gjuresko was visiting from Connecticut when he decided to buy diesel fuel because the price is cheaper here than back east. They say he purchased eight 35-gallon drums and filled them with the fuel at a Love's Country Store on Wednesday.
While there are federal regulations regarding the transportation of fuel, investigators don't believe his intentions were bad.
The FBI and the US Secret Service says Gjuresko has no connection to terrorism but city police are holding him on outstanding misdemeanor warrants connected to his pet dog from when he lived in Shawnee years ago.
Officers did confiscate a handgun from the man and are still checking the credit cards he used to purchase the fuel.
