This week’s thunderstorms helped with levels at many area lakes. It comes as welcome news as we get closer to Memorial Day.
Despite the rain, Skiatook Lake is still well below normal. The rain raised the lake by more than a foot, but Skiatook is still six feet below normal, and the swimming beach at Tall Chief Cove is closed.
Many folks we talked to say they've never seen the lake so low.
Turley resident Lewis Rackley: "we just need more rain. That's the only cure for it. Rain and a lot of it."
Tulsa resident Eric Kaiser: "Soaker, soaker, soaker. We need the rain."
The swimming beach will remain closed until Skiatook Lake gets more rain.
