A Boy Scout from Liberty is doing his part to keep his community safe. This all started after last week’s fire in Liberty that killed a father and his son.
15-year old Kayne Johnson is trying to raise enough money and smoke detectors to put one in every home in the Liberty area. The project will help him get his Eagle Scout badge. But he says it will also make him feel good about the safety of his neighbors in their rural part of Oklahoma.
"We got like 65 square miles of protection area for the fire department. And then we got about 90 fire hydrants and smoke alarms would give a little added protection."
If you would like to donate to the Liberty fire project, you can drop off a cash or check donation at any area Bank of Oklahoma.
You can also donate new smoke detectors at the Glenpool Fire Department, the Liberty school or in Tulsa at the Boy Scout Center at 42nd and Garnett.
