ENID, Okla. (AP) -- Workers from the state treasurer's Unclaimed Property Division returned money to its rightful owners during the Enid Home Show.
State Treasurer Scott Meacham says that as of Saturday afternoon workers from his office had returned about $2,000 to the money's rightful owners since the show began. His office staffs three such shows each year, in Enid and at state fairs in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Last year Meachem's office returned about $80,000 to its rightful owners during the Enid show. About $79,000 of that went to one anonymous couple.
Meacham says his office has returned about $11-million this year to its rightful owners. But he says there's still about $170-million in cash, rebates, paychecks, royalties, stocks, bonds and safe deposit box contents still left to be claimed.
