COLUMBUS, Kan. (AP) -- Five teenagers were charged Monday with threatening to carry out a shooting spree at their southeast Kansas high school last week. Authorities say the alleged plot was foiled after details appeared on an Internet Web site.

The teens are each charged with one count of incitement to riot and one of making a criminal threat.

The five appeared in court at Columbus Monday afternoon. Judge Robert Fleming remarked that the allegations are serious and that they scared him as he read them.

The judge set bond at $50,000 for 18-year-old Charles New, who is charged as an adult. The four juveniles are being held until a status hearing on May 3rd.

The juveniles are a 17-year-old, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old.

The five were arrested last Thursday, the seventh anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado. The arrests came after a message about the plot appeared on the Web site Myspace.com.
