Many children get into trouble on the Internet, before their parents ever know about it.

News on 6 anchor Terry Hood explains how new software helps parents keep a "cyber-eye" on where their kids go online.

More and more kids come home and get on the Internet before mom or dad get home from work. That's why online watchdogs have created computer programs to help parents keep up with their kids' Internet use.

For a one time fee, programs like "Cyber-Sitter", "Net Nanny", and "E-Blaster" will let parents filter what sites their children can access. The programs also make a log of all the websites kids visit, the e-mails they send and the people they contact.

Computer consultant Damon DoRemus says more often than not, kids are the ones teaching parents about the computer. And he says while children are technologically savvy, they often lack the street smarts to make good decisions online.

"If they were going to a party, you'd ask them where they're going, who they're going to meet, and what's going to happen while they're there. When they access a website, in some cases, it's like they're going off to a different place."

Some high end spy programs even record movies of your children's computer use.
