NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ The University of Oklahoma has reached its goal for $50-million to endow scholarships in just one year.
School officials began the five-year fund-raising effort last year.
OU President David Boren Wednesday announced a $5-million gift from Cy and Lissa Wagner of Midland, Texas, that puts the Campaign for Scholarship at more than $50,667,000.
OU will use only the interest generated by the endowments and say that's expected to generate about $2.5-million a year for student scholarships.
Boren says even though the goal of $50-million has been reached the campaign will continue and a new goal will be set this fall.
