Tulsans voted last Tuesday and they have a new mayor. Kathy Taylor took the oath just after 2 PM Monday to become the 38th mayor of Tulsa.
In the ceremony at Gilcrease Museum, Taylor promised to work hard to unify the city and build a strong leadership team in the mayor's office. She said in the next few days she'll announce members of her transition team. "I've been at city hall all morning going through issues and beginning to talk with the mayor's staff and city staff in detail on budget issues and I'm ready to go."
The newly elected Tulsa city council and auditor took office Monday as well.
The council elected Bill Martinson as chair, sticking with a tradition of alternating parties for the chairmanship. But Martinson wasn’t able to take his seat Monday, he’s involved in a vote recount.
