Vandals close down a Rogers County school. Classes are canceled Monday at Claremore Sequoyah High School after someone drove a bulldozer through the school.
The sounds of hammering and power drills will replace the ring of the school bell at Claremore Sequoyah High School. Work crews spent most of Sunday picking up the mess.
School officials say someone drove a small bulldozer through a set of doors, down a hallway, then out another set of doors. Walls were ripped open, shattering glass and exposing wires.
No one was hurt, but the school did suffer some serious damage. School superintendent Terry Saul found the bulldozer Sunday morning, still running and at the school’s softball field dugout. "We all know that there are people like that out there, we’re usually not victims of things like this. We've experienced it, made some good decisions this morning, got some good people together; things are certainly looking a lot better for us now.â€
Students in 10th thru 12th grade won't have classes Monday so engineers can tour the building and analyze the damage.
The superintendent says classes will resume Tuesday.
Claremore Police are still trying to find out who's responsible for the damage. If you might have heard or seen anything, you can call the Claremore Police at 341-1212.
