JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) _ A class-action lawsuit against General Motors alleges the windshield wipers on nearly $6-million of its older vehicles are defective.
The lawsuit was filed Monday in federal court in Jefferson City. It claims the automaker should have recalled 7.5-million trucks, vans and sport-utility vehicles from model years 1994-1999 because of faulty wipers, when it only recalled 1.7-million.
A GM spokeswoman did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
The lawsuit claims a federal investigation found that wiper problems have caused at least eleven crashes and 225-thousand warranty claims.
The lawsuit asks a court to require G-M to recall vehicles still needing repairs and to reimburse people's repair costs.
