OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State Treasurer Scott Meacham is now officially running for a full term as treasurer.

Meacham is traveling the state to make the formal announcement and says he'll make sure state money is safe, accounted for and put to its best use.

Meacham was Governor Brad Henry's finance director when Henry appointed him last June to fill out the unexpired term of Robert Butkin. Butkin stepped down to become dean of the University of Tulsa law school.

Meacham is making his announcements in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Chickasha Thursday and plans a stop in Elk City on Saturday.
