A small, rural Osage County district is making big strides when it comes to technology in the classroom. Bowring Public Schools applied for a $75,000 grant to outfit their school with brand new Promethean Active Boards.
The boards can upload lessons from the Internet; ask kids questions, grade their answers, time quiz and a lot more. And everyone in the district is using them, from five-year-olds practicing their ABC's to third- and fourth-graders learning to speak Cherokee.
Bowring School superintendent Rusty Henson: "the kids are truly invested in the lesson. No one's doing their own thing. They're all actively engaged in the lesson. It’s truly amazing to watch."
Bowring's superintendent says their school is one of a handful in this region to have these active boards in every classroom, plus the library.
