ANADARKO, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say they have captured one of two inmates who escaped from Oklahoma's Caddo County Courthouse and embarked on a multi-county crime sprees.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Kera Philippi says 26-year-old Lewis Peteet was captured by authorities in Texas around midnight.
Peteet and 28-year-old Eli Dominique Edwards are suspected in the kidnapping of a Gracemont, Oklahoma, woman who was later found safe in Wheeler, Texas.
Philippi says Jamie Allen was locked inside the trunk of her car, but managed to escape and flag down a motorist.
The two men were inside a judge's chambers at the courthouse after attending a church service just after noon Sunday when they pushed out a window and escaped on foot.
Philippi says the two men stole three different cars within 30 minutes, including a carjacking at gunpoint south of Apache, Oklahoma.
A Texas state trooper spotted the stolen vehicle near Canadian, Texas, and the two men tried to flee on foot after the car hit a chunk of concrete in the road.
Edwards remains on the loose. He is 5-feet-9, 180 pounds, with a missing finger on his left hand.
