OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An Oklahoma City man is being sent to prison for 30 years for dealing drugs.
The sentence for Leroy Eric Allen is nearly three times what's called for in federal sentencing guidelines, but the judge in the case says he wants to protect society from a child predator.
Allen pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and the federal guidelines call for ten to eleven years in prison.
But Federal Judge Ralph Thompson says he chose a 30 year sentence because of evidence that Allen planned to kidnap, rape and strangle girls. Allen told his plans to a bar dancer who cooperated with the FBI to record their conversations.
Allen's attorney says the sentence will be appealed to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver.
