OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Public Safety Commissioner Kevin Ward says some Hispanics are concerned they'll be targeted by law enforcement if bills aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration become law.
Ward says he and his staff are reviewing actions taken by troopers to prevent profiling. He says troopers don't pull someone over because of where they come from or their ethnicity.
He says people are usually stopped by authorities when a person's actions are suspicious, when someone's welfare is in jeopardy or when a vehicle matches the description of one used in a crime.
Ward says policies on racial profiling are strict and violations are dealt with harshly.
