One Man Still Without Power

There's a person in Tulsa still without power because of the ice storm. But, it didn't happen like you might think. Lane Fournerat's meter box was damaged, but not so badly that he lost power. He figured he could wait to get it fixed. The News On 6's Steve Berg reports, he was wrong.

A falling tree didn't knock out power to Lane Fournerat's house near Admiral and Yale. PSO shut it off.

Ironically, Lane Fournerat lost power just this past weekend when he was disconnected by PSO.

"They didn't call. They didn't send an e-mail, leave a message or note in the mailbox or anything," said Lane Fournerat.

Lane and his wife just returned from a trip to Dallas. Before that, they spent the holidays with relatives in Louisiana. They had a lot of distractions, plus they'd had trouble finding an electrician.

"My wife called probably about 20 electricians or so. And none of them called us back. They said that they're totally swamped," said Lane Fournerat.

Unlike a lot of Tulsa though, Lane thought he could afford to wait.

"We still had power. The line wasn't hanging on the ground. It was down a little low, but nothing that hazardous," said Lane Fournerat.

PSO, though, says it was and that's why they shut off the electrical service to the home. So now, Lane's repair timetable just got sped up.

"Out of about 10 that we called, only one called us back, and that's these guys here," said Lane Fournerat.

He says the repairs will cost him $2000.

The ice storm didn't get Lane right away, but it still got him.

Lane says he didn't know about Operation Power-Up. That's the program where the city paid electricians to make repairs to people's homes. That program expired on December 31st.
