Tulsa County's Board of County Commissioners has a new chairman. Wednesday morning the board unanimously picked Fred Perry for the job. The yes votes included Randi Miller, who is the outgoing chairman.
Commissioner Perry says he's been looking forward to taking on the title. He says one of the first changes he wants to make, is to share power with his fellow commissioners.
"You automatically inherit a whole lot of chairmanships. And, frankly, I never have been able to understand why that wasn't spread out some," said Tulsa County Commission Chairman Fred Perry.
By tradition, the chairmanship rotates every year between the commission's three districts. That means John Smaligo is set to become chairman in 2009.
