An explosion at a PSO substation forced staff at St. John Medical Center to work off of generator power. The power blew just before noon on Monday. Hospital officials released a statement saying St. John is not accepting any new patients, only those already there. All elective surgeries are cancelled.
St. John Medical Center issued a news release stating that all nursing and clinical employees need to report to work at their regular shifts. Other employees should contact their department supervisors. The employee information line should be called for further information. That number is 744-2911.

EMSA says all hospitals, except for OSU, are on generator power and are limited in their abilities.
EMSA's Tina Wells says while their call volume is normal, their response time isn't.
"The main problem we're all having is just getting to those calls, the tree lines are, the tree lines and the limbs are across the streets and the effect ambulances, police cars just as they effect common folks," said Tina Wells.
