Distribution begins this week for the angels of the Salvation Army Angel Tree. This year more than 25,000 toys and over 4,500 food baskets will be given away to families who registered at the Salvation Army Christmas Joy Center.
Organizers say it's too late for families to register, but not too late to donate. They say they're down about $100,000 this year, but are still working hard to make sure the registered families don't go without.
"A lot of people are coming through saying they've lost power and lost all their food. So the food baskets are a real Godsend for them," said the Salvation Army's Brad Borror.
The Salvation Army says that shoppers can still donate or adopt an angel anytime this week to reach a family by this Saturday.
