Arkansas River supporters are hoping to keep momentum going up to Election Day on October 9. They have announced an upcoming fun run at River West Festival Park.
"It's gonna be a two and a half mile loop here on the river - just to walk the river to see the great treasure we have here, to see what's at stake for our vote on October 9th. We go to expand to the many great things that are already planned for the river," says Christopher Reavis.
The "Run For Our River" is Saturday, October 7, just two days before the vote.
"Our River Yes" News Release A 2.5-mile loop Family Fun Run & Walk, "Run For Our River", is planned for Sunday, October 7, at the River West Festival Park, 2100 South Jackson. Starting time is 4 p.m.
"Like our river, this fun run is for the public," said Katie Fox, Run For Our River coordinator. "It doesn't matter if people run or walk the course; the idea is to have a run for our river and to remind folks to vote yes on October 9."
The "Run For Our River" course will loop from River West Festival Park, across the 11th Street bridge, up the east side of Riverside Drive to the 21st Street bridge, returning to River West Festival Park.
Participants can pre-register online at www.ourriveryes.com or at 3 pm October 7 at the starting point.
The first 300 registrants will receive a free T-shirt.
